The Best Development Competition
The aim of the competition which was established in 1990 is to recognise and promote good building design. The competition is open to new and converted buildings, including extensions of any size and character in the southern part of Mole Valley District – from Dorking southwards. The competition will run between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016.
Anyone can nominate a development – all you need to do is complete the application form and forward to Jean Pearson, Osbrooks Lodge, Horsham Road, Capel RH5 5JH or email@example.com. Closing date for nominations is 30 June 2016.
Ideally – but not essential – developments should be visible from public places so that winning developments can be admired without going onto private property.
The competition is divided into 3 categories

The judges will be looking for –

- Imaginative and efficient use of the site
- The contribution the development makes to the appearance of the locality
- Sensitive and interesting use of good quality materials
- Good workmanship
- Access and parking arrangements including access for the disabled
- Quality of any landscaping
